Create a key
Open Settings, then API keys, and give the key a name you will recognise later. The key is shown once, so store it somewhere safe.
Pick the access
Read-only keys suit dashboards and reports. Use a write key for scripts and Terraform that create monitors.
Make your first request
Send the key as a bearer token in the Authorization header. The code samples on the docs home work as they are once you add your key.
Rotate keys
Create the new key, update your scripts and then revoke the old one. Revoking takes effect straight away.
